ATR is located in Kansai Science City , which intersects three prefectures (Kyoto, Nara, Osaka). This location is roughly in the geographic center of Japan. Kyoto has treasured and enhanced the culture of its people since the beginning of the Heian-kyo Period (794). Nara is a city with a long and glorious history. This beautiful city started over a thousand years ago as the capital of Japan (called Heijo-Kyo), and has survived the flames of war and other difficulties throughout its long history. Osaka is the industrial and economic center of western Japan.
The main gateway to this region is Kansai International Airport (KIX). This airport has convenient access to ATR by rail and road. After you pick up your luggage and go through customes, limousine buses and taxis are right outside of the international arrivals on the 1st floor.
