Handling of personal information

In recognition of the importance of personal information, ATR complies with the Personal Information Protection Act enacted on April 1, 2005 to ensure the protection of personal information. In addition, ATR handles personal information in the following manner:
  1. Handling of personal information obtained
  2. The following policies were established based on the "Guidelines for Personal Information Protection Laws Concerning Fields of Economy and Industry,” established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (October, 2004).
    1. Use of Personal Information
    2. We will use personal information for the following purposes:
      1. Notification of seminars and open house held by ATR and ATR Group companies*.
      2. Notification of products and services provided by ATR and ATR Group companies.
      3. Contact with customers that is necessary to carry out our business activities.
      4. Other various purposes for which the customer’s consent has been given in advance.
      5. *The ATR Group companies are companies in which more than 1/3 of the voting rights of shareholders are held by ATR, either directly or indirectly.
        In addition, ATR may share minimal personal information with contractors outside the ATR Group companies in order to carry out its business more efficiently and effectively. On these occasions, ATR will select contractors meeting its requirements and enforce a contract and proper supervision regarding their handling of personal information.
    3. Handling of personal information for purposes other than those above (1-1)
    4. Excepting legal purposes, ATR will not use any personal information for purposes other than those listed above (1-1) without a customer’s consent in advance.
    5. Disclose or provision to third parties
    6. ATR will not disclose or provide personal information to third parties, except for the contractors described above (1-1) or the cases listed below:
      1. If a customer consents to disclosure;
      2. If such information is disclosed in a form that does not identify any person, e.g. summarized statistical data;
      3. If disclosure is required by laws and ordinances;
      4. If such information is required for the protection of human life, body or property, and it is difficult to obtain the customer’s consent;
      5. If it becomes necessary under applicable laws and ordinances to cooperate with a government agency, local public agency or parties authorized by them, and where obtaining consent from the customer is likely to hinder the execution of such duties.
