From the Lab Director
A: Last night I made some pasta for my guests.
After it was ready,
I drained the water
and all the pasta stuck together. So it was difficult to serve.
B: Did you bring the water to a full, rolling boil before adding the pasta?
A: Oh! Does that work?
B: Please try it.

As seen by this exchange, we often make small mistakes that give us a chance to exchange know-how with others. A person's everyday life is a long succession of successes and failures.
Sometimes, an activity based on a small idea or tip may bring about a great achievement,
while a trifling failure in an activity may cause a catastrophe.
From experiences of such successes or failures, a person may learn valuable lessons,
which form the person's working knowledge. Such working knowledge often helps the person
to create a better plan and then to improve the quality of an activity based on it.
This kind of working knowledge may also be utilized by other people.
It is thus important to share our working knowledge with the people involved in our activities, instead of keeping it to ourselves.
ATR Knowledge Science Laboratories aims at establishing the fundamental technology
to support our everyday processes of creating and sharing working knowledge for our everyday lives.
