ATR in Keihanna Science City signed a Memorandum of Understanding with
Startup Terrace Kaohsiung in Taiwan
~ Started collaboration in support of startup companies ~
Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (located in Kyoto; President: Toru Asami; hereinafter “ATR”) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Startup Terrace Kaohsiung, a startup support organization in Taiwan.
 Since October 2016 when Keihanna Research Complex project began, ATR, located in Keihanna Science City, has developed a collaboration network with innovation promotion institutions and individuals around the world, particularly Spain, Israel, Canada, New York City in the USA, India and Babaria in Germany. Effectively utilizing such network, ATR conducts a global startup acceleration program called “KGAP+” and open innovation business creation programs called “KOSAINN” and “KOSAINN+” which are large Japanese enterprises and startup from Japan and abroad work jointly. These activities, as a result, have been contributing to establish a global innovation ecosystem at Keihanna Science City.
 Toward enhancement of the network in the East Asia region, ATR and Startup Terrace Kaohsiung which is a startup support organization located in Kaohsiung Software Technology Park and established by Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 12 at ATR in the presence of Ms. Chia-Ying Wu, Deputy Director General and Mr. Ming-Teh Hsiang, Director General (Consul General) of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka. With this MOU, two startups supported by Startup Terrace Kaohsiung, are participating in the 8th cohort of KGAP+ (October 18, 2022 - February 1, 2023) for the first time from Taiwan, and will be pitching at an event organized by ATR and its partner organizations on December 16 and 21, which will seek for the two companies’ potential partners in Japan.
 ATR and Startup Terrace Kaohsiung will strengthen mutual cooperation in their initiatives to boost startup-ecosystem, pursuing their contribution to promoting business between Japan and Taiwan.

■ Startup Terrace Kaohsiung(亜湾新創園)
Startup Terrace Kaohsiung is a startup support organization located in the Software Technology Park and was established by the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan to make Kaohsiung a gateway to the world for startups in southern Taiwan and to build a global startup ecosystem and an international entrepreneurs’ hub in Kaohsiung. The Startup Terrace Kaohsig promotes industrial development and internationalization through the application of 5G, AI, and IoT technologies by startups, corporate partners and international accelerators, the use of local companies and five major PoC fields in the vicinity to transform traditional industries, and the development of unique startups and the acceptance of international startups.
