KRP and ATR of Keihanna Science City
Sign Partnership Agreement to Foster Innovation from a Global Perspective
and Hold a Commemorative Pitch Event


Kyoto Research Park Co., Ltd. (located in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto; President and CEO: Mitsuo Asano; hereinafter "KRP") and Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (located in Seika Town, Soraku District, Kyoto; President: Toru Asami; hereinafter "ATR") will sign a partnershipagreement on October 1, 2025. To commemorate this partnership, the two organizations will co-host a special event on the same day titled “KRP × ATR Collaboration Commemoration: Global Startup Showcase.

Through this partnership agreement, KRP and ATR will mutually utilize each other's international collaboration networks and resources. They aim to contribute to the revitalization of innovation-driven initiatives in Kyoto and the Kansai region from a global perspective by further strengthening their respective overseas activities such as global outreach and startup support.


On October 1, 2025, KRP and ATR entered into a partnership agreement. The collaboration aims to support the creation of business opportunities and the growth of both domestic and international startups from a global perspective, by mutually leveraging KRP’s international science park network and its healthcare innovation platform, HVC Kyoto, along with ATR’s global connections, including partnerships with overseas universities, research institutes, and domestic and international innovation support organizations, as well as its global startup support program, KGAP+.

■ Main areas of collaboration
  • Cooperation in exchanging information related to overseas collaboration activities and in disseminating information on each other’s events and related activities.
  • Creation of business opportunities through mutual collaboration, such as startup support and introductions to overseas partners, by utilizing the networks and resources held by both parties
  • Promotion of mutual guidance on facilities for events and corporate attraction

■ About Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR)
Established in March 1986 as a corporation to promote advanced basic research related to telecommunications, as well as to provide a venue for joint research among industry, academia, and government, and to contribute to the international community. In 1989, it opened as the first research institute in Keihanna Science City, and has played a central role ever since.

Since the start of the Keihanna Research Complex project in October 2016, it has built a global innovation collaboration network with 31 domestic and overseas innovation promotion organizations in 19 countries, covering Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East/North Africa region. Based on this network, and leveraging the strengths of Keihanna Science City, such as the scientific and technological capabilities of leading global research institutions and companies, its function as a PoC friendly city with resident participation, and its international character—it has established an open innovation promotion platform, including the global startup support program “KGAP+,” and is working on the development of a global innovation ecosystem in Keihanna Science City.
