ATR and CII, India’s premier business association, Sign Memorandum of Understanding
- Expansion of Global Network on Innovation in the Keihanna Science City -

Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on January 13th, to facilitate and support collaborative projects for various industrial developments in India and Japan and promote mutual cooperation in the field of technological innovation and industrial research and development. So far, ATR has been dedicated to nurturing new business and building an innovation hub as a core organization of the Keihanna Research Complex project (Keihanna RC, coordinated by KRI), which aims to generate globally recognized innovations in the Keihanna Science City. CII is an India’s premier business association since it was founded in 1895.

ATR, since the commencement of Keihanna RC in October of 2016, has been building both organizational and individual networks on global innovation issues mainly with Israel, Barcelona City in Spain, New York City in the U.S., and Canada, and has been supporting commercialization of various business ideas into actual businesses taking advantage of these networks, as well as creating open innovation projects composed of Japanese major leading companies and startups both from Japanese and overseas.

This MoU avails further collaboration on innovation issues between CII and ATR such as participation of Indian enterprises into above-mentioned activities ATR leads, by so doing aiming to enhance global innovation ecosystems at Keihanna Science City.



■About Keihanna Research Complex (RC)
Keihanna Research Complex project (Keihanna RC), is promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). Since its start in October of 2016, Keihanna RC supports the construction of a mechanism producing continuous scientific and technological innovations in the regions where universities, research institutes and companies are strategically integrated. So far, 46 organizations in the Keihanna Science City participate in this project and cooperate with other large enterprises, SMEs, start-ups, and local residents in the pursuit of world-class innovations and creation of a global innovation ecosystem.
