Online Event Connecting Keihanna Science City and Global Innovation Hubs Held
- Supporting Startups Around the World Challenging for Innovation under Post-COVID-19 Era -

 Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), together with the global innovation hubs that have built partnerships through the Keihanna Research Complex project(Keihanna RC), held an online event“KGAP+ DAY -Meet Startups Around the World!-” on July 29, where startups from Japan and abroad participated by relaying with our innovation partners around the world.

 “KGAP+ (Keihanna Global Acceleration Program Plus)” is a startups-supporting program launched in 2019 by ATR, who boosts global collaboration, business development support, and innovation hub development under the Keihanna RC Project. Japanese and overseas startups selected by each of our global innovation partners strive for PoC or pilot testing of their products/services with Japanese major companies. During a 3-monthts-program, ATR, along with cooperating organizations and mentors, supports startups by utilizing the PoC-friendly feature of the Keihanna Science City, matching for collaboration, mentoring, and conducting seminars.
 Prior to the regular KGAP+ program in 2020, ATR held a total of 7 online events “KGAP+ Special Edition -Take Initiative after COVID-19 with Key Players and Startups in Worldwide Innovation Bases-” in cooperation with global innovation hubs, where ATR and key persons in each region shared the social and economic impact/changes caused by COVID-19, and startups challenging to take quick actions for innovations under the pandemic gave their business presentations.
 “KGAP+ DAY -Meet Startups Around the World!-” is the finale of the series of events and opening of the regular program Batch3, and startups appointed through the Special Edition series gave their presentations from Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Israel, and Barcelona. Expanding from the participation of 19 companies/5 countries in Batch 1 and 2, ATR this time supports 16 startups including a new region from India and Hong Kong, who work on collaborations with Japanese major companies.

■ Keihanna Research Complex project (Keihanna RC)
 Keihanna Research Complex project, called Keihanna RC, is promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). From October 2016 to March 2020, Keihanna RC supported the construction of a mechanism producing continuous scientific and technological innovations in the regions where universities, research institutes and companies are strategically integrated. 47 organizations in the Keihanna Science City have participated in the project and collaborated with other large enterprises, SMEs, startups, and local residents in the pursuit of world-class innovations and creation of a global innovation ecosystem. In June 2020, Keihanna Research Complex promotion committee (secretariat: Pubilic Foundation of Kansai Research Institute) was established, carrying on the past achievements and continuing to develop innovation platform that is unique to Keihanna.
